This is part seven of the Business Essentials Series.
Business Essential #7 – Seven Clarities
What do Business Owners Want? More transactions, more relationships, more free time, less costs, less taxes, better employees, better products, higher sales and higher margins.
We are almost to our success of working through all 8 business essentials.
We have looked at what makes us unique, how we define wealth, and our mindset as business owners. We have seen how we protect wealth and how we avoid hazards that keep us from making money and keeping money. All of these tools are valuable but there is no value if we don’t have a vision and purpose. The 7 clarities are designed to bring this altogether.
In this exercise get out a pen or pencil and paper and sit in a quiet place. Yes. Do it. There is no other way. After each Clarity take some time and think about what this means to you. Write down whatever thoughts come to your mind as there is no right or wrong. Don’t second guess, let the thoughts flow without interruption. Your brain will want to stop you. Fight that because what comes out will be the essence of your innermost thoughts that will guide you.
Clarity number 1 is the Clarity of Purpose. What experiences, memories and activities and what is it about you that makes you different than anyone else? You don’t get to say here you give the best service. Everyone on this planet is different. What in your background, how you were raised made you different than anyone else and how can you use this difference to find a niche to market to, a place for your products or services.
Clarity number 2 is the clarity of vision. What do you do to impact the world and make a difference. Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Apple founder Steve Jobs all had visions to change the way people communicate. Same thing for Facebook. Have you noticed the vision of Legacy Legal? It’s written at the bottom of each of our blogs.
Clarity number 3 is the clarity of leadership. How are you a leader in bringing people together in a common purpose and vision?
Clarity number 4 is the clarity of goals. Goals are like stepping stones. Each stepping stone you reach brings you closer to your vision in line with your purpose.
Clarity number 5 is the clarity of action. What do you do each and every day to accomplish your goals and what you have set out to do. Remember the good old business plan. That is a great place to start to look at what you need to do. Each action step. Like making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. In one of our trainings we had to write every step in the process of making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich so that it could be understood by a martian so to speak. It takes about 52 clean clear steps. Do it if you don’t believe me. Not only is it fun but I guarantee you will learn something in the process. See, how this applies is to your company and your systems. If a new person came into your company would they know what to do if you weren’t there. How to open the door, turn on the lights, start the coffee, get the conference room ready and so forth and so on. Step by step by step. As Jim Rohn in Great by Choice talked about, the 20 mile march. “Roald Amundsen, 20 miles each and every day to reach the South Pole and survive, … in 1913. His competitor Robert Falcon Scott and the whole team, didn’t fare too well. All died. What is your 20 mile march?
Clarity number 6 is the clarity of legacy. How will you be remembered? What will you leave behind?
Clarity number 7 is the clarity of you. How do you take care of yourself. Doing something that is just for you
