All of us at Legacy Legal extend our desire that your holidays were safe and rich in experience. It is hard to believe we are coming up on the end of another year. While time passes at a constant rate, I guess when are lives are filled with so much activity time seems to pass so quickly. One sad note for us is we had to let our 12 years German Shepherd go. She was a tremendous dog who added lots of laughter and enjoyment during her time with us and the whole family was together spoiling her and giving her all the love she deserved. She is missed but always in our thoughts.
As we come to the end of the year there are a couple of points I want to share. First is a story that started back in April. Yes, hard to believe it was that long ago. It was a story that was unfolding and it was a success story in the making. Now, the story has unfolded and it is a success. As a refresher this story is about a hard working executive who is a widow with two adult children in their twenties. The children will be receiving an inheritance. The executive calls me to discuss how to establish a family fund that can be used for the benefit of the entire family. I met with the executive and we went through various ideas, thoughts and visions for how the plan should be expressed in the Family Trust I eventually prepared. The document contained expressions of the Family Mission, guidelines for distributions for the mutual benefit of all family members and processes for joint decision making. The inheritance is soon to be received and the plan has come together. The client has expressed substantial appreciation for our work and it has been a joy to use my knowledge, skill and training in this way.
The second area I want to cover is planning for the end of the year. As we enter the fourth quarter, the time to plan is now not two months from now when the year is almost over and there is no more time to plan. In our own company and lives we have looked at what we can do to plan for the rest of the year, but also to take a look at how the year will impact us from a tax perspective. We continue to meet revenue goals and there is no doubt that the government wants its slice of the pie.
